Goals/ Plans upon my return to South Sudan

  • To teach students in secondary schools or at university level.
  • To participate in any educational development at States level or National.
  • To participate in professional development program for science teachers.
  • Act as role model, to motivate and encourage girls and students generally in science education.
In fact, all the lessons I learnt are valuable, I have learnt a lot and I don't know where to begin and where to end. I have learnt a lot from Research class, the conferences that I attended, leadership class, the curriculum and the elective that I am taking in this semester. I have at least what to say in each course work, so they are all important  and useful for me. Through teaching I will achieve all those goals that I hope to achieve. For example, if I will teach in the university Research methodology, it will not be like the research methodology which had been taught for undergraduate students in those years, where students didn't know even which research methodology they used for their research studied. students have to present and defend their research study in order to get right feedbacks like what I have seen and observed from the conferences that I attended. I also learnt how to write legislative draft and writing grant proposal from leadership course, which will help me to participate in educational development at State and National level through reviewing and redesigning educational policy at State and National level. I have learnt how to design Units for teaching in curriculum course and still I will learn more in methods of teaching science education from my elective course. This knowledge will help me to participate in professional development program for secondary science teachers, like organizing trainings for secondary science teachers in the government universities during holidays such that they are taught how to apply inquiry-based  approach in their lessons. But what I need is PEACE  PEACE  in South Sudan in order to have good yield in Science Education.

  1. It is truly that, the knowledge and skills we've gained from this program is more than much and has moulded us to become resourceful in peace building and in the development of our country. Grace, it seems the skills we've gained has oriented you towards so many plans which are all worthy. I would like to know which plan is so pressing and needed most for our case in South Sudan?

  4. I'm so glad you have taken so many things from this program. I have no doubt you will take this knowledge back to South Sudan and work towards change. I agree that peace will make your goals more accessible, but do you think that peace might be partially achieved through these goals as well? Are they separate? Thank you so much for sharing!
